Oktober festivities.....

So its sorta on with normal life again... (whatever that is...) after all the September visitors have come and gone. And once again, I'm gonna go on about how much stuff there is to do in Melbourne ok yawn yawn u've heard it all before, i'll shut up now....
First up was a trip to see Hard Fi at the Prince of Wales with Emma, John, Craig and Mark, which led to a pool competition with a random bogan and a cycle along the beach home singing Hard Fi songs at 2am! Had a couple of very entertaining work night outs too, first cocktails and a very messy pub crawl at St Kilda then an awards night on top of the Rialto Towers. I was too busy looking at the view of the city at night than pay attention though!
A whole lotta October was taking up with cycling training for Around the Bay. www.bv.com.au/great-rides/20005 Emma and I cycled a whole 100k from Sorrento to Melbourne city, which took about 6 hours! It was by coincidence that this Melbourne was hotter than anywhere else in Oz this day, reaching a high of 34 degrees, with an extremely strong wind blowing in the wrong direction. Like having a hairdryer in your face for 40k! Oh how lovely! Dont think I've ever felt so exhausted in my life at the finish line, completely drained, and walking a bit funny for a few days after! Such good fun though, although the sight of 8,000 men in lycra has left me scarred......

To top off the month, Spring Racing Carnival fever hits town, check it out at www.springracingcarnival.com.au OK, so I know absolutely nothing about horses, but its the best excuse ever to get all glammed up in ur best dress, and sip champagne in the sun all day. I went to Cox Plate races and Derby Day, not winning a single bet but having the best time. One of the funniest things is how quickly it all goes down hill. One minute the girls are looking lovely, and a couple of hours later having to get carried home by their boyfriends, high-heels in one hand and fascinators in the other! If you ever get the chance to see the Australian movie Kenny, then watch it. Sums it up just beautifully!
